Important School News

Dear Farmingdale School Community,

Welcome to the Farmingdale School website! Many exciting things are happening here in Farmingdale and we are so glad you took the time to visit our website.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The School Climate Team, in conjunction with staff, families, students, and the Board of Education, has been working hard over the past few years to improve our school’s climate and make it a productive environment for learning where all students feel welcome, safe, and respected. Our school staff has been trained thoroughly on our HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) Policy and works regularly with our students to ensure their understanding of this policy as well. Every student at Farmingdale participates daily in a Responsive Classroom Morning Meeting, meant to foster social skills and improve peer to peer as well as peer to staff relationships. Also, students in grades K-8 participated in a two to three day anti-bullying program provided by New Jersey Child Assault Prevention. Other initiatives include our active participation in the Week of Respect as well as offering leadership opportunities provided to our students. Students in grades K-6 were also treated to an anti-bullying performance by the Playground Theatre Project, generously sponsored by the PTA.
    As we continue these programs, and look towards the future of how we can improve, we would like feedback from as many stakeholders as possible. To this end, each student in grades 3-8 will complete a school climate survey with their homeroom teacher. This will provide us with vital feedback about what aspects of our programming are successful and where we can improve.
   Just as our students completed this survey, we would also like to offer our parents, staff, volunteers, and community members an opportunity  to complete a version of this survey as well. To navigate to the survey, please click on the link below. The survey is anonymous, so you do not need to provide your name or email to be able to complete it. If you prefer, you can call the main office at 732-938-9611 and request a paper copy to be sent home with your child. You may also stop by the office to complete the survey. We hope that our Farmingdale community can provide us with informative feedback that assists in our continued efforts to improve school climate.
    Please complete this survey by Wednesday, May 22nd. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at 732-938-9611. We look forward to your feedback!
